As the Salary of M: Tomlin has recently been certified, the holder having died, there must be some mistake here, for the Salary is fixed by the Civil List and surely does not vary with the holder.

I do not understand why $600 has been entered as a Provisional and temporary addition to the Salary of the Superintendent. It has not, I think, been sanctioned by the Secretary of State.

Postmaster General #480 affects a Provisional and temporary increase to his Salary, sanctioned by Lord Kimberley's despatch of the 15th of July.

Registrar General: It is difficult to make out what has been done with this department, but it appears that the List originally provided for a reduced scale, which was later restored to its old strength.

I think the Governor might be asked to look into this matter on page 18, #13360. The Registrar General's pay affects the first list, while the office is omitted altogether in the Civil List Schedule on page 18.
